Released: 2010

Megan's Movie Review:
Okay. I am a Harry Potter nut. I LOVE the books and I truly have enjoyed the movies. The 6th movie was great but it didn't get a 5 star because it left out the fight scene at the end. This movie didn't get a 5 star because it was sort of slow. But if you have read the books you would understand that Part 1 of the Deathly Hallows wasn't going to be too fast-paced. The 2nd movie will be great because it will be the ending and it will have great fight scenes. One of my favorite parts in this movie was when they were in the Ministry. It was great! One thing I did find weird was when Ron left and Harry was trying to cheer Hermione up by dancing with her. That didn't happen in the book and it was just plain weird!! It also made it look like they liked each other. Another thing, I didn't appreciate it how when Ron was going to kill the Horcux in the necklace, that Harry and Hermione were naked and kissing. What the..? Why couldn't they have kept their clothes on. Tell me why the director had to do that? It was stupid. This movie did follow the book extremely well, I was so pleased! Like when Ron and Harry were fighting (and this was right before Ron left) the conversation they had in the movie was almost exact to conversation in the book. I just truly enjoy these movies and the story. It is fabulous.

Any Harry Potter nuts agree??

Megan's Movie Review:
Very predictable movie. It had some good suspense, but I went into the theaters already knowing how it was going to turn out. I wanted to see this movie though because of the actors in it, I love them both. It wasn't the most amazing movie though. It was pretty cool to know though that it was based on true events. Good story, not the greatest though.

Any other opinions??

Charlie St. Cloud

Stars:
3 stars

Life is for living.

Charlie St. Cloud is a young man overcome by grief at the death of his younger brother. So much so that he takes a job as caretaker of the cemetery in which his brother is buried. Charlie has a special lasting bond with his brother though, as he can see him. Charlie meets up with his brother (Sam) each night to play catch and talk. Then, a girl comes into Charlie's life and he must choose between keeping a promise he made to Sam, or going after the girl he loves. (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Zac Efron
Released: 2010

Megan's Movie Review:
I liked this movie and it had a twist at the end that I really liked. I kind of predicted it when I was watching it but it was still a good movie to watch. I can't say it was great, it is kind of sad when his brother dies. Although, I thought his little brother was sort of a punk. Zac Efron really is a good actor though. I'm so surprised at how far he's come.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Inside a snowflake, like the one on your sleeve, there happened a story you must see to believe.

Based on the book by the famous Dr. Seuss. Inside a snowflake exists the magical land of Whoville. In Whoville, live the Who's, an almost mutated sort of munchkinlike people. All the Who's love Christmas, yet just outside of their beloved Whoville lives the Grinch. (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Jim Carrey
Released: 2000

Megan's Movie Review:
This has to be one of my favorite Christmas stories ever. I loved the cartoon and I remember I watched it all the time when I was younger. Jim Carrey did a fantastic job playing the Grinch. I laugh so hard every time I watch this movie. It is definitely one of my Christmas favorites. I also loved the narrator in this movie, Anthony Hopkins. He had the perfect voice for it. You should definitely see this movie if you haven't seen it. "What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, is just a little bit more."

Elf

3 1/2 stars

Later, as an adult human who happened to be raised by elves, Santa allows him to go to New York City to find his birth father, Walter Hobbs. Hobbs, on Santa's naughty list for being a heartless jerk, had no idea that Buddy was even born. Buddy, meanwhile, experiences the delights of New York City (and human culture) as only an elf can. When Walter's relationship with Buddy interferes with his job, he is forced to reevaluate his priorities. (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Will Ferrell, Zooey Deschanel
Released: 2003

Megan's Movie Review:
Will Ferrell was absolutely awesome in this! He played such a great 'Elf'. I love this movie and love to watch it when Christmas time comes around. I loved all the funny jokes throughout this movie. And yes it was kind of cheesy in some parts, but such a great family movie. I totally love it! "Sun of a nutcracker!" haha..

Ice Age: The Meltdown

Stars:
3 1/2 stars

The meltdown.

Manny the woolly mammoth, Sid the sloth, Diego the saber-toothed tiger, and the hapless prehistoric squirrel/rat known as Scrat are still together and enjoying the perks of their now melting world. Manny may be ready to start a family, but nobody has seen another mammoth for a long time; Manny thinks he may be the last one. That is, until he miraculously finds Ellie, the only female mammoth left in the world. Their only problems: They can't stand each other--and Ellie somehow thinks she's a possum! Ellie comes with some excess baggage in the form of her two possum "brothers"-- Crash and Eddie, a couple of daredevil pranksters and cocky, loud-mouthed troublemakers. Manny, Sid and Diego quickly learn that the warming climate has one major drawback: A huge glacial dam holding off oceans of water is about to break, threatening the entire valley. The only chance of survival lies at the other end of the valley... (Source: IMDB)

Starring:
Released: 2006

Megan's Movie Review:
Now, nothing beats the very first Ice Age. This was pretty good though. When I saw this in the theaters, I remember thinking it was so hilariously funny! Now, I find it pretty funny, but nothing extreme. The possums are pretty funny, but Scrat (the squirrel-thing) is the best character. Well.. I do love Sid the sloth too. One of my favorite parts was the 'fire-king' part. :) Super funny! This had a cute story to it and I appreciate how it has good morals to the story.

It was the perfect honeymoon... Until it began.

A happy young couple, Sarah and Tom marry against the wishes of Sarah's friends and family and go to Europe for their Honeymoon. Unfortunately for them, Sarah's parents send Sarah's ex-boyfriend Peter Prentis to break up the happy marriage. (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Ashton Kutcher, Brittany Murphy
Released: 2003

Megan's Movie Review:
This movie is pretty funny. It is just one of those typical comedy romances where everything imaginable goes wrong but still works out in the end. I like Ashton Kutcher and I find his acting hilarious. There was one part in this movie I really didn't appreciate which was when the couple was fighting and he finds a girl in a bar and brings her back to his room. Nothing happens between them but the girl from the bar goes crazy and gets too dirty. Brittany Murphy kind of bugged me, just a little. She held her mouth all weird when she would laugh. This was funny though.

Son In Law

He's a relative nightmare.

Country girl Rebecca begins college in Los Angeles. There she meets Crawl, a student who is crazy, unpredictable and wild. During the holidays she brings him with her home. Her parents have never seen anything like him and are shocked when Rebecca tells them that they are engaged to be married. Two different worlds collide... (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Pauly Shore, Carla Gugino
Released: 1993

Megan's Movie Review:
This was an okay movie. It actually was pretty funny at some parts but it was also kind of dirty. As you probably know, I don't like movies that have too much dirty jokes/innuendo in it. It was also kind of stupid but yet enjoyable. The reason why it got a low score was because of the sexual comments. Pauly Shore is hilarious though and he also makes things so awkward...

Bright Star

Stars:
2 1/2 stars

First Love Burns Brightest.

The drama based on the three-year romance between 19th century poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne, which was cut short by Keats' untimely death at age 25. (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Abbie Cornish, Ben Whishaw
Released: 2009

Megan's Movie Review:
This movie was pretty boring. I mean the story kept me wanting to sit and watch the movie to see how it ended, but it was so slow and there was hardly any music in it. I find that music can keep your attention better in a film, but this was so quiet. It was a sad story though. I felt bad for Fanny because she never got to be with her true love (which I never really understood why she loved him so much, it never said). John Keats ends up dying in the end and his poetry wasn't appreciated at that time but is now. I also didn't realize it was a true story until the very end. Anyways, it was too slow for me. And they needed to get a more handsome John Keats. He was not so attractive and she was like two times his size.

A Knight's Tale

Stars:
3 3/4 stars

He didn't make the rules. He was born to break them.

Inspired by "The Canterbury Tales," as well as the story of Ulrich von Lichtenstein, this is the story of William, a young squire with a gift for jousting. After his master dies suddenly, the squire hits the road with his cohorts Roland and Wat. On the journey, they stumble across an unknown writer, Chaucer. William, lacking a proper pedigree, convinces Chaucer to forge genealogy documents that will pass him off as a knight. With his newly-minted history in hand, the young man sets out to prove himself a worthy knight at the country's jousting competition, and finds romance along the way. (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Heath Ledger
Released: 2001

Megan's Movie Review:
My husband and I really like this movie. I can't say it is the greatest movie ever, but it really is entertaining. It is funny and has a great story to it. Never give up. Live your dream. It is too bad that Heath Ledger died, because he was an amazing actor. He was really fantastic in The Dark Knight, but that is a different subject. I loved in this movie how they would bring modern day things into their time. Such as like singing "We Will Rock You" before the jousting started. This is just a fun movie and I love watching it.

Starring: Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans
Released: 2010

Megan's Movie Review:
They really tried WAYYYY too hard in this movie to be cool. It made it so stupid and absolutely ridiculous to even watch. I was surprised to see Zoe Saldana in this movie because she has played in some major big movies, such as Star Trek and Avatar. This made her look bad. This movie was just plain stupid and super cheesy. I wouldn't recommend it.

Starring: Queen Latifah, Common

Megan's Movie Review:
This movie was way too slow for me. I couldn't focus on the storyline, and I never really finished it. It was just boring and dumb. It really wasn't a comedy either, unless if you find this stupid humor entertaining. I hate it when people try to be funny because they aren't funny. Basically it was bad acting and very boring and slow story. No bueno.

The Village

Stars:
3 3/4 stars

Run. The truce is ending.

In a quiet, isolated village in olde Pennsylvania, there lies a pact between the people of the village and the creatures who reside in the surrounding woods: the townspeople do not enter the woods, and the creatures do not enter the village. The pact stays true for many years, but when Lucius Hunt seeks medical supplies from the towns beyond the wood, the pact is challenged. Animal carcasses, devoid of fur, begin to appear around the village, causing the council of elders to fear for the safety of the village, the pact, and so much more. (Source: IMDB)

Megan's Movie Review:
This is a good movie! I truly enjoy this director and writer, M. Night Shyamalan. He is very creative and this story was great. It had good suspense and it kept you wondering what was going on. I really liked the romance in it too (of course). One of my favorite parts is when Ivy Walker is holding out her hand waiting for Lucius to come and the suspense is great because one of the creatures is right there about to take her hand. It has a twist in the end that I love. I never expected it. To me, any movie that M. Night Shyamalan makes is great. I also love how he is in most of his movies, playing a side character. Its like trying to find Waldo, haha. Sort of..

Don't look up.

Strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth. (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Eric Balfour, Scottie Thompson
Released: 2010

Megan's Movie Review:
This movie was just under average. I really didn't much care for it at all. Yes, it was entertaining but it ended kind of dumb. It was a mix between War of the Worlds and Independence Day. Although, those two movies are wayyy better than this one. Skyline, left you hanging at the very end and you don't know how these stupid aliens die. Has anyone ever seen Cloverfield? Well that was a stupid movie! But in that movie it left you hanging and you have no idea if the world ended or if humans won. That's exactly how it happened in this movie but it was a better story than Cloverfield. It kept me wondering how they would get out of this situation. It was alright. I actually laughed out loud at how stupid some parts were. I wasn't the only one in the theater either. I think my husband liked it more than I did but to be honest, I really didn't like it at all.

Released: 2003

Megan's Movie Review:
I don't know why, but I love this movie! It is so weird and unusual but there is just something about it that grabs my attention. I find it very sweet at the end when he finally understands his father and bonds with him. The story is good though and of course my favorite part of the movie is when he finds his girl. It was so sweet and romantic! Tim Burton has some unusual films yet I usually like them a lot. My husband doesn't like this movie because he thinks the dad is a big, fat liar but I loved this movie. Watch it if you haven't seen it! I dare you. Just remember it is a little strange but you can't help but love it. Maybe..

Josie, who was a frustrated, ridiculed nerd, gets a popular make-over from her drop-out, naturally funny brother Rob Geller. Both siblings find love and joys of youth again. But in Josie's case, it's sensitive bachelor teacher Sam Coulson, who enjoys sophisticated conversation. As the publication deadline approaches, the price of blowing their cover seems ever more daunting, yet inevitable unless she sacrifices her career. (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Drew Barrymore, David Arquette
Released: 1999

Megan's Movie Review:
This is definitely one of my favorite chick flicks ever! I know there are some dirty parts and comments in this movie that I actually just pass by and ignore, but it is also quite hilarious! I loved Drew Barrymore in this movie! She did such an awesome job acting like a nerd. If you really think about it, that has to be so hard acting that part and having a straight face. Although it is still rather weird that her teacher falls for one of his HIGH SCHOOL students, I did love the romance to this story. The end is the best part! He comes for her!! :) I find this movie pretty funny and it is under my personal favorites too.

Megan's Movie Review:
This was just an average movie, it wasn't bad nor was it anything great. I thought it would've been a little bit funnier with Ashton Kutcher as the main character. He seemed to have played more of a serious character in this movie. There were some funny parts but it wasn't hilariously entertaining. It also was rather slow to get into the story. I think they could have made it funnier and more entertaining. All the best parts were shown on the previews and that was about it.

Megan's Movie Review:
Well this story was WAY too childish for me. We ended up turning it off and sending it back to Netflix. We probably watched about an hour of it before I couldn't handle the bad acting anymore. Once again, I'm sure children would enjoy this, but this is not my type of movie that I like. I would compare this to Diary of a Wimpy Kid but maybe even more childish than that movie. If you have children, they might find this entertaining, but I just don't have the patience to watch movies this stupid. Haha.. that sounds harsh!

Someone is missing.

It's 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston's Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He's been pushing for an assignment on the island for personal reasons, but before long he wonders whether he hasn't been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy's shrewd investigating skills soon provide a promising lead, but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, more dangerous criminals "escape" in the confusion, and the puzzling, improbable clues multiply, Teddy begins to doubt everything - his memory, his partner, even his own sanity. Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo
Released: 2010

Megan's Movie Review:
This movie was really good. I love mystery/suspenseful movies that keep you entertained and trying to figure out what the heck is going on. To be honest though, it wasn't scary for me. I wonder if it is because of the edited version.. So I kind of wish I could've seen the real version, but oh well. Leonardo DiCaprio is an amazing actor. He can play so many different roles and I just love him! This edited version was great though. It cut out all the swearing and I'm sure it cut out more, but I've never seen the original version, so I can't tell you what it exactly cut out. Haha. It does have a twist at the end which I actually had predicted. I don't want to spoil anything so I won't say anymore. Good movie though, I really liked the way it ended. "Which would be worse, to live as a monster, or to die as a good man?"

Megan's Movie Review:
To be honest, I wanted to see this movie but I didn't really want to see it in theaters. My husband, on the other hand, wanted to see this in theaters, so we saw it the opening weekend. And to my surprise, I really liked it more than I thought I would. Will Ferrell has such a hilarious voice and he did a great job as the alien. I also couldn't picture Brad Pitt in an animation film, but it worked good. It was a funny movie!! There were two favorite parts in the movie that I loved. The "forget-me" stick (you'll have to watch the movie to understand) and when Will Ferrell says, "Back you savages!!". Soo funny! This was a really cute story and you couldn't help but fall in the love with the blue guy. I definitely recommend it and kids would enjoy this movie for sure.

Do you ever really forget your first heartbreak?

Seventeen-year-old Veronica 'Ronnie' Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Tybee Island, Georgia. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father ...until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she spent the summer on Tybee Island with him. Ronnie's father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church. The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story about love in its myriad forms - first love, the love between parents and children - that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that deeply felt relationships can break our hearts ...and heal them. (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Miley Cyrus, Greg Kinnear, Liam Hemsworth
Released: 2010

Megan's Movie Review:
Surprisingly, I liked this movie. I had been told mixed reviews on this, but I actually liked it a lot more than I thought I would. One thing I was kind of worried about was that it was based on a Nicholas Sparks novel, and there can be those sex scenes in the movie. This was PG and there was nothing like that in here. I truly enjoyed it and Miley Cyrus did a pretty good job. It was very sweet and I would watch it again. Some of the parts in the movie were kind of cheesy, but.. you always get that in romance films.

Fall in love.* Get married. Have a baby. *Not necessarily in that order.

But she's still afraid to let him in and when she tells him about her pregnancy thinking he would bail but he sticks with her. (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Jennifer Lopez, Alex O'Loughlin

Megan's Movie Review:
This movie was stupid. It was all about sex and it wasn't even funny. I thought it might be a little bit more about her being pregnant and all the awful things that come with pregnancy and her boyfriend helping her through it. But it seriously was just all about sex and I thought it was terrible. We ended up shutting the movie off and sending it back to Netflix. I don't enjoy movies like that. And the acting was also terrible. I never thought Jennifer Lopez was a great actress, but she was terrible. Alex O'Loughlin was absolutely awful too. I've never seen him before but he played a creepo in this movie and his acting sucked.

Megan's Movie Review:
I absolutely LOVE this movie. Some of you might disagree, but I loved the romance in this. It was so sweet and true, it made me in love with this movie. I love the fantasy side of it as well, so if you don't like fantasy, I'm guessing you probably won't enjoy this. It had some funny parts in the movie, that if you pay attention you'll understand their hidden jokes. For instance, all the sons of the dead king were named a number in Latin (I think that's the right language). Just funny stuff like that is entertaining in this movie. But I loved Tristan in this movie. I thought he was so genuine and I couldn't help but just fall in love with this movie and its romance. It is definitely one of my personal favorites.

How to be cool.

To Greg Heffley, middle school is the dumbest idea ever invented. It's a place rigged with hundreds of social landmines, not the least of which are morons, wedgies, swirlies, bullies, lunchtime banishment to the cafeteria floor - and a festering piece of cheese with nuclear cooties. To survive the never-ending ordeal and attain the recognition and status he feels he so richly deserves, Greg devises an endless series of can't-miss schemes, all of which, of course, go awry. And he's getting it all down on paper, via a diary - "it's NOT a diary, it's a journal!" Greg insists, preferring the less-sissyfied designation - filled with his opinions, thoughts, tales of family trials and tribulations, and (would-be) schoolyard triumphs. "One day when I'm famous," writes Greg, "I'll have better things to do than answer peoples' stupid questions all day." So was born the Wimpy Kid's diary. (Source: IMDB)

Megan's Movie Review:
Well.. Personally this is not up my ally of movies. I did not like it because it was just too "kiddish" for me. I would say this would be recommended for 8 year olds. It wasn't as funny as the previews make it look and it was just kind of dumb. But I am sure that children would enjoy it, I just didn't. Some of it was just stupid comedy that, of course, kids would enjoy and find hilarious. I also did not like the morals that were taught in the movies. It taught that you have to be cool or do something cool to be anyone or accepted at school, which is not true. Just be yourself. I didn't like how the brothers would get each other in trouble and not get caught. I felt like it didn't teach you how to be a good friend.

Megan's Movie Review:
If you like documentary's, you would enjoy this movie. My husband and I are really fascinated by the ocean and especially the coral reefs. This was a good movie, it just seemed too short. I could've watched more! It was only 40 minutes long but the shots were amazing. All the fish and sea creatures were so incredible and I love watching films like these. It was very enjoyable and children would even enjoy this because of all the cool fish and sea creatures.

Megan's Movie Review:
Well... let's say I was rather disappointed. I really don't like sexual comments or innuendo in my movies. This could've been a really funny movie if they didn't put all that crap in it. Don't get me wrong, there were some pretty funny parts in the movie. For instance, the boat scene and taxi scene. I died laughing in those parts! If they had more clean, hilarious parts like that, it would've been an even better movie. I love Steve Carell and Tina Fey and it could have been soo hilarious. There was just too much sexual comments in this movie for me to enjoy it.

Megan's Movie Review:
This wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I thought there might be too many big names in this movie for it to be really good. But it was still pretty entertaining and I actually liked it. I think the director did a decent job on all the relationships and having a good story for everyone. I did find Taylor Swift quite annoying. They made her play this ditzy blonde part, but it was almost like she was over-acting her part. And I didn't like (spoiler alert) how Bradley Cooper was gay at the end! ... It was a cute chick flick though.

(Source: IMDB)

Starring: Amanda Seyfried, Christopher Egan
Released: 2010

Megan's Movie Review:
This is your typical comedy/romance film. But that's why girls love them right? I really liked this movie! I have seen Christopher Egan on the movie Eragon (which was a terrible movie compared to the book) and I really didn't have much of an opinion on his acting then. He did good in this movie and I really thought he was charming and kind of funny. One thing that bothered me was the way he walks. He looks weird.. I know that is terrible to say but it bugged me! Amanda Seyfried was good too but she did seem a little too sad or upset all the time. The ending was awfully corny but nonetheless cute. I did like the whole storyline about the old lady finding her true love. It was so sweet!

Tooth Fairy

The tooth hurts.

Derek Thompson is 'The Tooth Fairy,' a hard-charging minor league hockey player whose nickname comes from his habit of separating opposing players from their bicuspids. When Derek discourages a youngster's hopes, he's sentenced to one week's hard labor as a real tooth fairy, complete with the requisite tutu, wings and magic wand. At first, Derek "can't handle the tooth" - bumbling and stumbling as he tries to furtively wing his way through strangers' homes...doing what tooth fairies do. But as Derek slowly adapts to his new position, he begins to rediscover his own forgotten dreams. (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Ashley Judd
Released: 2010

Megan's Movie Review:
I thought this would have been a little bit funnier, but it was just average. It is a good kid's movie and family film. It does have some funny parts but it isn't the greatest movie. We really like Dwayne Johnson and so whenever he comes out in anything, we want to see it. His friend in this movie was pretty funny. It was a enjoyable movie but nothing I have to have in my DVD collection. Good family film night.

Megan's Movie Review:
I will be honest, at first when I saw this in theaters, I only thought it was okay. It is actually now that I watch it over and over again, that I love it even more! This movie completely surpasses the other X-Men movies. I do love those ones, but this was so much better! Hugh Jackman is the perfect Wolverine and is so freakin cool. One of my favorite characters in this movie, was Remy LeBeau or aka Gambit. I wish he would've had a bigger role in this movie and I would like to see him in other X-Men movies. The poker scene was awesome with Gambit. Ryan Reynolds is also in this movie and is hilarious as usual. This movie was action-packed and very entertaining. I was never bored and I truly love this movie. I'm not even sure why I didn't like this movie in the beginning. I think it is because I was so stuck on the old X-Men movies, I didn't want this one to be better.

Any Wolverine fans?

Megan's Movie Review:
One of my personal favorite movies!! Some people don't like Amanda Bynes, but I think she is hilarious! Her facial expressions during this movie were so funny. She is soo good at acting like an idiot and not being embarrassed. At the end, it was pretty corny, and she is better at being comical than playing a serious role. This movie was great though, and it was funny! Since it is a teenager comedy, I thought there might have been some more talk or jokes about sex, but there wasn't. This is something worth watching if you want to just sit and enjoy a good comical movie.
