Planet 51

Lem is just an average teenager working on getting the girl and furthering his career at the local planetarium - except that he's an alien. At least to U.S. astronaut Captain Charles T. Baker who lands on Lem's planet hoping for a quick flag plant and a hasty return to earth and his millions of screaming fans. But on this alien planet the media has tagged spacemen as brain-eating, zombie-creating monsters, causing Baker to run for his life and into Lem's house. Now it's up to the green native to get the clumsy astronaut back to his spaceship before military dictator General Grawl and mad scientist Professor Kipple manage to exterminate the Earthly visitor. Megan's Movie Review:
Another fun family film! It was pretty funny and my favorite character was Rover who was just the NASA probe. He was so cute! It had a good moral to the story and I would definitely think kids would be entertained by this movie. This would be a good movie to sit down with your family and watch for some family time. I have come to like Dwayne Johnson more and more in movies. He might not be the greatest actor but whenever I see him in an upcoming movie, I look forward to it. I think he is pretty funny and he played the human really well. It's worth a watch!

Megan's Movie Review:
This movie had some big actors in it and I personally thought it would've and could've been better. The mystery part of the story was really good, but there was something about it that I just didn't really think was great. It seemed sort of long and a little slow. The story was entertaining though. Also, Russell Crowe looked too fat. I don't know why it bothered me but he seemed almost like a different person. And the hair was awful. I love Rachel McAdams. I've said that before but I think she is a good actress. Another thing that I felt was kind of dumb was that these guys were just reporters and they were acting like they were the detectives. Like the police wouldn't get a hold of the information first! I know, it's just a movie, but still.. If they were trying to make it realistic, then make it seem realistic. There were a few good suspenseful parts in the movie. The bad guy scared me when he came after Russell Crowe in the parking lot. Overall, it was alright.

Remember the Titans

In the early 1970s, two schools in Alexandria Virginia integrate forming T.C. Williams High School. The Caucasian head coach of the Titans is replaced by an African American coach from North Carolina. Tensions arise when players of different races are forced together on the same football team. Many of these tensions are eased during the two-week training camp in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. When players returned to Alexandria the players found the city in turmoil due to the forced desegregation of the high school. As the season progresses the team's success caused the community to accept the changes. After the Titans' perfect season, the team and the city were closer than ever. (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Denzel Washington, Will Patton
Released: 2000

Megan's Movie Review:
Personally, I loved this movie. I think it is one of the greatest sports movies ever. The fact that it was a true story makes it more inspiring. When they are at training camp and you see all the problems they go through, it makes you realize how we're not that much different from one another. No matter what color, or race, or even your personality, we all deserve to have someone get to know the real you. That's what's important. I like inspirational movies like this because they motivate you to do good, and in this case, not judge others, and accept everyone as they are. This was also just a cool sports movie! You get so excited when they kick butt and they win their games. One of my favorite parts was when the team comes out doing their new "warm-up." It gets you all pumped up!

Terminator Salvation

It's the early stages of the war between man and machines. And the savior John Conner is doing everything he can to make sure man survives. He thinks he's found a way to ensure that, and he also learns that the machines have targeted the man who's suppose to father him, Kyle Reese, so he tries to find him. One of Conner's soldiers meets a man named Marcus Wright who has no knowledge of Judgment Day. When they reach the base they discover Wright is part machine and suspect that he was sent by Skynet but Wright claims that's not true. (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin
Released: May 2009

Megan's Movie Review:
I've only watched the other Terminator movies on tv and they were pretty good. But this was better! It had more cool action in it, and it seemed more real but then again it was made in the 2000's and not the 1980's like the others. Even if you didn't watch the other movies and watched this, it is still pretty easy to follow, and it gets you wondering how things will work out. I have come to really like Sam Worthington, and I look forward to his other movies. If you like cool, action, sci-fi movies, this would be the one for you. I loved it a lot! The more I watch it, the more I like it.

Romeo + Juliet

Two households both alike in dignity, In fair Verona where we lay our scene. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes, A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life. (Source: IMDB)

Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Claire Danes

Megan's Movie Rating:
I had watched this movie long time ago with my friend, but I didn't remember it, and I was too young to really care. Now re-watching it, I liked it a lot! It's a modern Romeo & Juliet, but it still has that sweet romance to it. I really liked Leonardo, he's cute! Haha.. Even though I'm Shakespeare illiterate, you get the point of the movie, and it is still romantic!!

Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant

Among acts such as a wolf-man (who bites off the hand of a woman in the audience) and a snake-boy, they see the vampire Mr. Crepsley and his trained poisonous spider. Darren is smitten with the spider and returns to steal her. When Steve is bitten by her, only Mr. Crepsley has an antidote to her poison. But there's a price, and Darren becomes a half vampire, learning the vampire ways, sometimes following the Cirque, and other times joining Mr. Crepsley on secret errands. Megan's Movie Review:
Well... This was a little different from what I'd thought it be. First of all, I thought it would be more for kids, just by the look of the preview, but it's definitely not. Well, the kids need to be older before they watch this. It was an alright movie. Maybe a little weird. I wanted to see it because of the kid, Josh Hutcherson, who is from Bridge to Terabithia. I liked that movie, and I thought he was a cute kid. It was interesting. I don't know what the movie reviews are or if they are doing sequels to this. They are based on a series of books, so we'll see. It did have a few funny parts in it.

Megan's Movie Review:
This is definitely one of my FAVORITE movies of all-time!! Some people might disagree, but I don't get it! I really had no idea what this movie was about when we went to go see it in theaters. It was so cute and funny, some parts I couldn't stop giggling in. The dog, Dug, is my favorite character. He reminds me of my dog and does the exact same things she does. I love the story behind it! I know it is sad at first when Ellie dies because you don't expect it, but what good movie doesn't have something sad in it?? That's what captures your attention and you need to know how he is going to get through this situation. It was super cute, I love it, and I could watch it over and over again!
